The Womancare Team

Each birth team includes a Licensed Midwife and 2-3 experienced birth assistants. Our birth assistants include trained individuals, specifically in the homebirth setting, student midwives and nurses, and RN's. Continued education is essential to us - from keeping certifications up to date to taking supplementary classes to further our knowledge in things like home birth neonatal resuscitation. You can rest assured knowing you've got the best team by your side every step of the way.

In joining our practice, you can expect true informed consent, shared decision making, and a birth experience with less medical interventions and higher personalized care.

Our Mission

We strive to offer the ultimate in safe, comprehensive, holistic, women centered care. We give great time and attention to each and every mother and baby. We carefully limit how many births we attend each month so that we can give the best individualized care. We never want you to feel that you are “just a number.”

It is our special mission to meet with you and hear your hopes and dreams for your birth. We never feel these parts of a woman’s heart and mind are trivial or unimportant. This is because we know that a woman’s heart, mind, body, and spirit are all intertwined to make up her entirety.

We practice the Midwives Model of Care. We are considerate of your wishes and respect your autonomy. We consider you to be in charge of your body, your baby and the care you both receive. We will do everything in our power to ensure that your birth should be an empowering experience. Learn more about how we can help below.

Sustainability is important to us

Hospitals use massive amounts of plastic, paper, laundry and toxic cleaners for every birth.

At home, women are in their natural environment and are immune to the community of micro-organisms where they live. Besides lowering the risk of infection, giving birth at home is the most sustainable option for the environment because they are using their own washable linens, and a minimal amount of disposable supplies.

Womancare Birth & Breastfeeding is dedicated to helping our community become more sustainable:

  • We use a small box of birth supplies with some paper products for the birth, just enough for one small bag of trash.

  • At home we wash your linens and towels used during the birth using cold water and your biodegradable soap and hydrogen peroxide, which is non-toxic.

  • We use electronic health records, which vastly eliminates most paper and ink usage and waste.

  • When possible, we use recycled paper products.

  • We recycle all recyclable materials in our office, including finely shredded paper.

  • We strive to use non-toxic, natural cleaners as much as possible.
